Airbrushing Wood glues and acrylic colours

Airbrushing Wood glues and acrylic colors section dedicated to airbrushing for naval and static modeling. The catalog includes aliphatic glue and vinyl glue which are particularly suitable for the construction of planking. Furthermore, there are water-based acrylic colors and humbrol matt enamels for painting some metal details.

Modeling airbrushes

The airbrush is a tool that allows you to color a surface, nebulizing the paint through a powerful jet of compressed air. It is used in precision work to produce very thin lines, uniform color fields and nuanced tones. The first model built in 1879 by Abner Peeler in Iowa in the United States, the airbrush prototype was based on very different mechanics from most modern models and the operating principle was much more similar to the currently less widespread turbine models (such as the Paasche AB Turbo). After years of refinement, in 1884 Liberty and Charles Walkup purchased Peeler's patent, marketing a version of the Air Brush.

Glues for wood: aliphatic glue and vinyl glue

Vinyl glue

PVA glue is certainly the most used glue product in DIY. It is suitable for almost all wooden surfaces, but also for fabrics and for decoupage or DIY work. It is milky white in color, but once dried, it becomes completely transparent and this is one of the most appreciated features.

Aliphatic glue

Aliphatic glue, known as rapid vinyl, is one of the three classic model making glues and is widely used especially for wood, cardboard and what can be defined as porous materials. It is yellowish, very soft and spreads easily. In consistency it is very similar to traditional vinyl: in fact the only way to distinguish the two glues is by their colour.

Cyanocrylate glue

Cyanoacrylate glues contain two methyl cyanoacrylate, a very popular adhering product on the market because it is famous for being a resistant and quick-setting glue. Cyanoacrylates are adhesives suitable for non-porous surfaces, but also with slight traces of water.

Acrylic colours

I acrylic paints they became part of the tools used by painters only starting from the mid-900th century. The secret of their success lies in their particular chemical composition, which makes them resistant to light and offers the model maker the possibility of working uninterrupted on the model since the colors dry quickly without leaving streaks. Acrylic colors can be diluted with water or solvents and can imitate the light glazes of watercolors and oil colours. Furthermore, they can be spread over an already dry color or they can be used pure, in order to have voluminous surfaces and can be applied on different types of materials, from canvas to wood, from walls to paper.

Matt enamel colours

Present in the catalog are the 14 ml Humbrol Enamel colors from the English company Humbrol founded in 1919 and subsequently purchased by Horny which owns the brand. Each color is sold in the typical 14 ml cans and the lid is colored with a spot of the same color while each color is characterized by a numerical code, often also found in specialist literature. The complete line of fundamental colors to complete the naval car and motorbike models are present in the catalogue.
